Sometimes people pay before the favor. Sometimes people pay after the favor.
It should be no surprise that Scott Luna began making campaign
contributions to Tedesco after he received his patronage job in the county. Notice how Scott Luna did NOT list Bergen County as his employer as he was contributing money to Bergen County Executive James Tedesco.
And Scott Luna's father likely gets a double (or triple) benefit when
he contributes money to Tedesco’s daughter who happens to be a Paramus
Councilwoman.
Luna’s culture of pay-to-play for patronage jobs is
wrong. Public employment should be based
on qualifications and merit, not campaign activity and payments.
