Above is just one of many examples of what Lodi employees
and Lodi taxpayers had to deal with when Tony Luna was borough manager. Another memorable offense was when Luna laid
off two DPW workers who had 8 years seniority over a councilwoman’s son. Luna created a new department just so a
councilwoman’s son could become a supervisor by skipping over everyone else.
Donald Scorzetti is police chief today
because of all the special, unfair, unwarranted advantages Tony Luna gave him
over more deserving, professional and respected candidates (Luna's handling of the deputy chief position). At
Donald Scorzetti’s swearing in, Scorzetti acknowledged that he wouldn’t be
there if it weren’t for Tony Luna. Nobody
can disagree with that.
Tony Luna is desperately clawing his way back into
borough hall through his son “Scotty”.
Lodi cannot afford Lunas’ unfair hiring and
promotions. Lunas blatantly violate Civil Service regulations. Every Luna decision
is based on nepotism, political patronage, and pay-to-play. Whenever Luna got caught violating the law,
he would always say that he thought Lodi was grandfathered in because his
administration had been doing the same thing in 1986.
Lodi cannot afford Lunas’ vindictiveness. Luna has viciously gone after employees,
businesses, and town residents who have been critical of him. He behaves as a third world despot.
Years ago, I OPRAed invoices from the Florio firm
(Luna’s handpicked labor counsel that gives thousands of dollars to PRIDE campaigns)
after seeing a spike in monthly bills. It
was clear that Luna’s mistreatment of employees and disregard of the law was
the reason for the growing bills.
