June 8, 2007- A date that really matters for Superintendent sick day payouts…

Link to “CAPPING SICK LEAVE AT $15,000 FOR SCHOOL EMPLOYEES? VALID SAYS THE NEW JERSEY SUPREME COURT”:

Last year, the district website showed Frank Quatrone’s retirement payout for sick days to be $255,437.

The contract that Quatrone tried to sneak in last week showed his retirement payout for sick days to be priced between $177,122 and $191,723.

What is this Board doing?

All the legal resources I received state that Quatrone can get the greater of two options: either $15,000 or the amount for sick days he accumulated prior to June 8, 2007 (if an agreement existed between him and the Board at that time).

What are these fluctuating numbers all about?  This shouldn’t be a guessing game.

Did the Lodi Board of Education have a written agreement with Quatrone on June 8, 2007?  Where is it?  I haven’t seen it.  It hasn’t been memorialized in any contracts approved after the date the law was enacted.

How much can Quatrone possibly be owed for sick days accumulated prior to June 8, 2007?  He was only superintendent for 5 or 6 years at that time.  It would be impossible for him to accumulate 212 sick days in 5 or 6 years.  His sick days from when he was a Gym teacher are not part of his Superintendent contract.

This is a serious subject that has been avoided for too long.  Quatrone tried to rush through a different contract for himself last week before it can be reviewed or discussed.  His actions show that he cannot be confident in what he is trying to pull off.
