Governor Murphy at the Sacco rally: “We believe that you don’t make economic
progress without social progress. You don’t make social progress without
economic progress,” said Gov. Phil Murphy, who called Sacco a close friend and
confidant. “Those are words. We believe them, but if you want to see them in
action, come to North Bergen.”
Sacco was serving as North Bergen’s Assistant
Superintendent (BOE), North Bergen Mayor, and State Senator at the same time.
He currently holds the latter two public offices. Countless news stories in recent years showed
one scandal after another from Sacco and his administration. Yet, Sacco had the governor and all the other
big wig state politicians descend upon North Bergen to stick their noses in a
nonpartisan municipal May Election.
How can the state provide oversight to municipalities
when the top officials in the state are publicly campaigning for corrupt politicians?
These people have no shame. This is why people have no faith in
government.
People often ask why Lodi politicians get away with violating
state statutes? People often ask why the
state doesn’t do its job. Take a look at
Murphy next to Sacco. That’s your
answer. Like Sacco, Lodi politicians have their connections and their protections.
