I was informed today that a special meeting will be
scheduled for Wednesday, February 21st at 6 P.M. to conduct interviews for
the Board vacancy.
The BOE is a public body. We are supposed to serve the public. The public should never be intentionally and unnecessarily shut out.
The public expects that the interviews be open and transparent as they are in other districts.
The public expects that the interviews be open and transparent as they are in other districts.
The residents of Lodi are sick and tired of public
seats being filled behind closed doors, whether it be at a late night diner,
7 Red Stone Lane, or some other backroom.
The public certainly isn’t comfortable with this seat being filled at Joe
Leto’s house.
No more backroom meetings! No more "done deals"!
No more backroom meetings! No more "done deals"!
Those that oppose transparency and openness have
something to hide.
The public has the right to see if the process is fair. What criteria is being used? What questions are being asked? Are the Board members consistent? Are they
respectful?
Is each Board member demonstrating "independent judgment"? Is any Board member attempting to secure unwarranted advantages for a friend?
Is each Board member demonstrating "independent judgment"? Is any Board member attempting to secure unwarranted advantages for a friend?
Is the Board respecting the will of the voters? Or are
they thumbing their nose at the democratic process.
I trust the public to decide if the best candidate is
selected. The public has every right to watch the interviews.
The seat belongs to the public. It doesn’t belong to a political
machine.
