Update: Since this post went up on February 20, 2018,
it has been confirmed through an OPRA request that there was NO resolution to
go into closed session.
I stated and asked the following tonight:
There
is an Open Public Meetings Act. There
appears to be violations of that Act taking place at your work sessions.
You
must adopt a Resolution each time you go into closed session listing the
general nature of what is to be discussed. At some point, all closed session minutes and
tapes must be made available for public.
Do
you have Resolutions corresponding to the subject matters discussed in
closed? Aren’t you discussing items in
closed that should be discussed in the public portion?
At the end of tonight’s meeting and after I spoke, the
mayor and council voted to go into another closed session without adopting a
Resolution. A Resolution for “closed session” never appeared on any
agenda.
