Alan Spiniello’s $210,000 part-time pay was questioned at tonight’s council meeting…

I asked the following questions tonight:

1)     Mr. Spiniello is usually paid $210,000/yr. which is $17,500 a month.  He has exceeded that amount this year.  For September, he was paid $32,203.75.  Can you explain the additional bills labeled “MINOR SUBDIVISION”?

Mr. Spiniello claimed that the Main Street redeveloper will pay for those additional bills.

2)     What is Lodi getting in return for the $210,000?  Is Mr. Spiniello keeping records of the hours he puts in each month and what he is working on?

Mr. Spiniello began talking about the costs of Scott Sproviero as borough attorney and Marcel Wurms as “special counsel”.  He then went on to reference what Paul Barbire was billing Lodi.

I pointed out the following:

-  Florio Perucci is billing Lodi each month.  Some of their monthly bills are pretty high.

-  The “special counsel” position (Marcel Wurms) was created in 2007 and wasn’t necessary.

-  The BOE just had an issue regarding legal bills.

The BOE needs to see what work is being done (invoices, hourly pay) by professional service contractors that are not full time employees.  The people of Lodi deserve to know what work is being done each month by Alan Spiniello in return for his $17,500.  Every month can’t be the same work.

Alan Spiniello tried to justify his excessive pay by pointing at others.  Marcel Wurms’ position was created by Karen Viscana and wasn’t necessary.  Paul Barbire ripped off Lodi with his over the top pay.  I always spoke out against both of them.
