Collecting two different public pensions…



I was emailed this question: can someone collect two public pensions (different pension funds)?  The questioner did not believe this was allowed in New Jersey.  I used Karen Viscana as an example.  See below:




Karen Viscana is collecting a pension from Tpaf for her years as an employee of the Lodi BOE.  Click on link below:






Karen Viscana is also collecting a pension from PERS for her 12 years as a Lodi councilwoman.  A Lodi councilperson earns $6,000 a year. An annual pension of $1,491 is actually really good considering what is was based.  Most people are unaware that anyone would collect a pension for the rest of their life for sitting on the Lodi council for 12 years.  Click on the link below:
