The “closed session” wasn’t necessary. It didn’t accomplish anything. Nothing new was discussed. Nothing old was resolved.
Two attorneys were present- Alisa DiChiara and Anthony
Sciarrillo. Both bill at least
$160/hr. Together $320/hr.
I bit my tongue during the meeting because any input
would have given them a reason to drag the conversation. I looked at my watch often, calculating how
badly the Lodi taxpayers were being taken advantage.
Reminder:
when the Board Attorney was “salaried”, there were no attorneys at most
meetings. Now that both attorneys bill
by the hour, every meeting has an attorney.
Last night- two attorneys.
What is taking place?
After the OFAC investigation and corrective action
plan, there seems to be a sense of defiance.
There seems be an orchestrated effort to drive up attorney
bills so the “machine” can say: look, you are paying more now by the hour than
you were by salary.
Money should be saved this year. Instead, the “machine” is looking to spend
more. Unnecessarily.
