Merely a conflict on paper?

“The residents of Lodi understand our “conflict” and know that our independent judgment is not affected by it at all, such that it is merely a conflict on paper.” –Cardone, Scorzetti, and Leto campaign

Nancy Cardone’s son is a principal in the Lodi schools and negotiates the administrators' contracts.  Mrs. Cardone's daughter-in-law is a teacher in the Lodi schools.  Mrs. Cardone's sister-in-law is a teacher in the Lodi schools and is an LEA leader.  Mrs. Cardone's niece is a teacher in the Lodi schools.

Donald Scorzetti’s superior in the police department is the superintendent’s brother.  Donald Scorzetti is the Board President’s superior.  Donald Scorzetti's last campaign was funded by the mayor and council.  Members of the mayor and council are employed in our schools.

Joe Leto’s relatives are packed into the Lodi schools.

Are those just merely conflicts on paper?

I don’t think they understand the meaning of “conflict of interest”.  And that is why they are unfit to sit on the Lodi Board of Education.  Almost everything they vote on will benefit them and their relatives financially.

The BOE is not their family business.  Other candidates get it.  The "machine" doesn't.
