The product of the “Sarlo Resolutions”…

The Interchange Bank on Garibaldi Ave has been replaced with an apartment building.  Of course a whole lot of variances were required.

Below is a link to a post about the “Sarlo Resolutions” from one year ago.  It lists all the variances that were required.

Below is a link to an email exchange among Caruso, the mayor and council with the subject line “Sarlo Resolutions”:

Things to consider with the mayor and council making “Sarlo Resolutions” such a top priority:

  • An OPRA response for that time period showed that “Sarlo Resolutions” was the only issue the mayor and council was conversing about via email that had to do with matters before the Zoning Board or Planning Board.

  •   The subject line of the mayor and council's conversation is “Sarlo Resolutions”, not "183 Garibaldi Avenue, LLC" or anything else.  When Caruso mentions "Sarlo", the mayor and council jump into action.

  • It appears that Marcel Wurms was replaced as Zoning Board Attorney because he caused a delay for politically connected Charles Sarlo.

Charles Sarlo is also the attorney listed for the “Vue”.  The “Vue” is the apartment building on Harrison Ave. that replaced a one family house.  Of course a whole lot of variances were required for that project as well.

The "Vue":

400 Harrison Ave before the "Vue":

Contained in the link below are all the variances required for the “Vue”:

You can see all the similarities between the “Vue” and “The Ave”.

Charles Sarlo is the brother of State Senator Paul Sarlo.  Charles Sarlo is also on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA).  On-line description:

* Charles Sarlo is a lawyer and general counsel to DMR Architects, a politically-active firm which handles numerous public projects that need buy in from Trenton and from the building trades.  His brother is Senate Appropriations Committee chairman Paul Sarlo (D-Wood-Ridge).  Paul Sarlo works for Joseph Sanzari’s construction firm and has close ties to the building trades.

Vinny Martin was sworn into office by Paul Sarlo.  Paul Sarlo doesn’t represent Lodi.  He is in a different legislative district.  This shows some personal connection between the two.

Any regular Lodi resident would never have received the variances required for projects like the “Vue” or “The Ave”.

The Lodi mayor and council continue to give special privileges and treatment to powerful politicians from county and state government.  Political influence and big money reap great financial returns in Lodi.

Political office is often used to swap influence.
