From the article:
"PALISADES PARK — Borough officials collected no
resumes, conducted no background checks and performed no psychological
evaluations on the members of a team of armed guards hired this spring to
safeguard the district's three schools, recently released records show.
In addition, documents obtained through public records
requests by NorthJersey.com and the USA TODAY NETWORK New Jersey showed that
two guards' handgun carry permits expired earlier this year.
And the documents indicate that councilman and retired police
officer Henry Ruh appears to have hired the nine guards, all of whom
are retired police officers, without input from the Borough Council — and weeks
before the security officer position was created.
Hiring without resumes and
before positions are created? That is
business as usual in too many nepotism towns.
It’s great the reporters are exposing it."
