5, not 4…

One week before the deadline to file to run for board of education, the board office has caused complete chaos and confusion by claiming that only 4 seats are open in November when everyone believes there are 5.

You have the 3- three year terms that are up every year.  You have the 1-one year term left over from Joe Licata’s resignation.  You have the 1-two year term for the empty seat that sits to my right and has been unoccupied since January.

If Capizzi’s office is claiming that the two year seat is not open, then they are implying that it belongs to Al Mastrofilipo.  That hasn’t been decided year.  They can’t have it both ways.

The board was never informed of the decision that came out of Marc Capizzi’s office.  Nobody knows the rationale behind it or the basis for it.

The board voted to have a meeting in July.  After I requested a special meeting prior to the one scheduled for July 25th to discuss Miller’s actions (misappropriation of public funds), Miller pushed the July 25th meeting into August and never responded to my request.

August is past the deadline to file to run.

This is undemocratic.  There is no transparency.  This is no way to treat the public.

I feel this is just another scheme by Lodi’s political machine.  All they do is place obstacles in front of good people looking to improve the community.  They don't want people to vote and they don't want people to run.

In the past, the County has shown itself to be incompetent and unfair.  County employees have too many connections to the Lodi politicians.

Do you remember Patricia DiCostanzo’s quote in the Record about Lodi absentee ballots in 2009?

“…complaint also claims absentee ballots requested by two Lodi residents were sent to the Saddle Brook home of Joseph Capizzi, business administrator for the school board, but DiCostanzo confirmed Wednesday that the Bergen County Clerk's Office erroneously sent the requests to Capizzi's home.

"It was the county's mistake … just human error," DiCostanzo said."

Capizzi’s office and the County must address the two year seat and release a public statement.  People can’t just go on vacation and run out the clock.  Elections are too important for another "county's mistake" or "just human error".
