Marc Schrieks: The letters were generated "automatically”…

Link to nj.com article titled:Jury in trial of former Sen. Joseph Coniglio reaches partial verdict, opts to continue deliberations”:

From the article:

“During the three days of deliberations, jurors have asked Judge Cavanaugh for transcripts of the testimony, both direct and on cross examination, of Coniglio's former chief of staff, Marc Schrieks. Schrieks had testified he sent letters bearing the Democratic senator's signature to the Department of Human Services in support of two grants to Hackensack University Medical Center after the legislator was hired there as a consultant. The letters were generated "automatically," Shrieks testified, and Coniglio might not have known about them.

Coniglio is the latest in a succession of legislative officials snared in an ongoing series of corruption investigations. He did not seek re-election after he was indicted.

The former plumber is charged with nine counts of mail fraud and extortion and faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.”

The letters didn’t generate themselves.  If Marc Schrieks generated the letters and attached Coniglio’s signature without his knowledge, then Marc should also have been charged.  Marc knew he was engaging in criminal activity because the newspapers brought it to his attention three years earlier.
