Emil Carafa must be looking for another big campaign donor…

Link to tonight’s agenda:

The Lodi Mayor and Council are appointing another law firm.  It’s one of the most political in State.  It was at the center of controversy during the Ferriero years of Bergen County.

Breaking from past practice, the Lodi mayor and council didn't use a Request for Qualifications and pretend to go through a fake selection process.  Alan Spiniello claimed tonight that Decotiis just happened to send his proposal to Lodi and its name appeared on tonight’s agenda.  He claimed they were going into “closed session” tonight to discuss the matter even though they already selected a firm.  He even said they would discuss whether to use Requests for Proposals.

Nobody at tonight’s meeting would answer how Decotis’ proposal magically appeared before Lodi or who from Lodi was their contact person.

Emil Carafa was absent.  Is he Decotiis’ contact?  Emil is hooked up with the County Democrats.  Emil strives off of pay-to-play abuses.  Emil puts partisan politics ahead of Lodi residents.

How much will Decotiis funnel into Emil’s next campaign?

Will Decotiis represent the interests of Lodi or will it represent the interests of hack politicians with the development around 199 Garibaldi Ave?

Why isn’t Alan Spiniello’s $210,000 part-time salary reduced since all these political firms are doing his job?

From the New York Times in 2005, before Decotiis appeared in all the articles about Ferriero:

Lodi Council awarded a NO BID contract to “Decotiis” at tonight’s meeting…

Click on the link below and enter “decotiis” for the last name.  Twenty pages of political contributions appear.  Have you ever seen anything like it?

“Decotiis” brings “pay-to-play” to a whole new level.

Nobody on the council has explained how “Decotiis” was chosen and awarded a NO BID contract when Lodi never posted a “Request for Qualifications”.   Who was their contact person in Lodi?  Does Lodi really need another political lawyer appearing on the monthly bills?

The Lodi mayor and council’s out of control legal bills are only getting worse…

The above item appears on the agenda of the Lodi mayor and council for tomorrow night’s meeting:

Here is what the mayor and council approved in March:

Not only did the Lodi mayor and council award a NO BID contract to Decotiis, they didn’t even seek RFQs.

Decottis charges more than other firms working for public entities.

Borough Attorney Alan Spiniello is paid $210,00 for his part-time work and most of his responsibilities are outsourced to other high priced political firms.

Joseph Lagana’s Brother (New Boro Attorney for Paramus) is Defending Unethical Votes by the Paramus Mayor…

From the article on northjersey.com:

And,

“Cleary Giacobbe” and “Decotiis” are the two most political law firms in Bergen County with the most prolific campaign contributors.  Both firms have a Lagana.  The Laganas are using the political clout of a senate office and campaign funds to secure lucrative public contracts throughout the District 38 towns.

If unethical politicians posing as school attorneys or town attorneys tell the public that something blatantly unethical is not unethical, the public needs to take it from the source.

"DeCotiis" received a noncompetitive contract from the Lodi mayor and council for "redevelopment".

"Cleary Giacobbe" is still the board attorney for the Lodi Board of Education.  "Cleary Giacobbe" has the highest billing and is providing an inferior service.  It is more than clear that "Cleary Giacobbe" is attaining and retaining public contracts in District 38 towns because State Senator Joseph Lagana is a partner in the firm.
