NJEA Dues Are Up. NJEA Membership is Down. The NJEA Works Really Hard to Hide its Financial Records from its Own Members.

Link to two recent posts by the Sunlight Policy Center of New Jersey:

NJEA Hikes Teachers’ Highest-in-the-Nation Dues to $1,038; Estimated Membership Declines to 193,000 - Sunlight Policy Center (sunlightpolicynj.org)

Confirmed: NJEA Dues Are the Highest in the Nation — by 32% — and NJEA Membership Below 193,000 - Sunlight Policy Center (sunlightpolicynj.org)

SPCNJ is very transparent and helpful and provided me with the following information this afternoon:

“Overall dues revenues ($124 million in 2021-22) come from three sources: teachers’ dues (87%), education support personnel (non-teaching staff) dues (11%) and retiree dues (2%). It does not include $12 million of PRIDE dues, which are a separate dues stream ostensibly for community outreach projects in local districts but are really an effort to influence local school board politics.”
