Marc Capizzi got his “do-over”.

Last week the Board voted to table the Lincoln School Resolution until February.  According to Lodi’ by-laws, the motion to table the resolution clearly passed with a 3-YES, 0-NO, 5-ABSTAIN vote.  Marc Capizzi didn’t like the result so he called a special meeting for a “do-over”.

Tonight, the Board voted on the same resolutions that they already voted on last week.  The only difference was Capizzi’s five puppets (Carafa, Miller, Carbonetti, Nardino, and Vara) changed their votes from “abstain” to “no” on the motion to table.  Dominic Miller screwed up last week and the four puppets followed.  Walking in lock step, they reversed this week.  They went on to award the $6,053,500 contract with a 5-3 vote.

Marc Capizzi brought in a $160/hr lawyer named Tony Sciarillo because the Board Attorney is on vacation.  Mr. Sciarillo wouldn’t answer any questions regarding the vote that took place last week.  Conveniently, he stated he wasn’t at the meeting last week so he couldn’t comment.

The Board Attorney attends every other meeting. Often, there is no attorney at the meetings. Why was it even necessary to bring him in if he couldn't answer the legal questions surrounding last week's vote?  Why didn't he listen to the tape from last week?  Or did he listen to it and not want to admit guilt on the Board's part?

Trustees Mastrofilipo, Mara, and Telep represented Lodi well.  They stood firm and cast votes in Lodi’s interests.
Al Mastrofilipo raised the important issue of the Board opening Lodi up to a liability by rushing through a contract that a new Board could possibly cancel.

Marc Capizzi could care less about wasting more tax dollars on a rushed contract.  He had to deliver this for his father.  No matter what the costs, no matter what was violated, Capizzi had to deliver.  It happened to be at a special meeting when schools are closed and the New Jersey Department of Education is on vacation.

Marc Capizzi didn’t like the result last week.  Lodi doesn’t like the result this week.  Should it be a best out of three?  Should there be another vote on the same thing next week?

Any costs for a rushed contract should be taken from Marc Capizzi’s $168,000 paycheck and Frank Quatrone’s merit bonuses.
