Is the Lodi Board of Education Overpaying for Architectural Services?

The most recent State Comptroller’s alert asks the following question:  “Is your school district overpaying for architectural services?”  After analyzing one district in Ocean County, they issued recommendations for all.




These are things to consider with the Lodi Board of Education:

1) It  awards its architectural contracts WITHOUT COMPETITIVE BIDDING.

2) It allows its architectural firm to SET IT'S COMPENSATION AS A PERCENTAGE OF THE ESTIMATED CONSTRUCTION BUDGET.

The Lodi BOE and the Lodi Council should read the Comptroller’s website once a month.  There is a lot of interesting reading and good recommendations.  Lodi desperately needs some type of oversight coming from its elected officials.
