Transparency Needed at the South Bergen JIF

The South Bergen JIF is a public entity made up of politicians from South Bergen County.  Tony Luna and Charles Cuccia are two of the seven members on its Executive Committee.  Both are paid to attend its meetings.

The South Bergen JIF increased its budget $1,490,483 or 11.4% in just three years.

It did this while lacking basic transparency.  It did not post agendas before some of its meetings in 2013. It does not post minutes in a timely manner. And the minutes they post do not show the public what the claims are that the JIF is approving, how much the JIF is paying out, or what towns are receiving the payments.

A public entity with a $14,588,720 budget can easily be run just like the old Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission if nobody is watching.  Transparency is needed at the South Bergen JIF.

Side Note:  The Lodi taxpayers should not be paying for cookies and refreshments for every single JIF meeting.  Luna, Cuccia, and the other PAID politicians can pay for their own food and refreshments.
