Interviews should be conducted in front of the public.

Boards of Education throughout New Jersey interview candidates for vacant seats during the PUBLIC portion of their meetings.  Below is just one of many examples (the Record recently changed its website so more recent examples from Rutherford and others can longer be accessed):

Marc Capizzi planned to interview the five candidates in “closed session” after Tuesday’s meeting.  Mr. Capizzi needs to change his plans.  The interviews should be open to the public.  There is no justification to conduct them in “closed session”.  People in attendance for the meeting have every right to listen to the interviews.
