The "machine" said we couldn't look at resumes. The School Boards Association said otherwise. An attorney for the association sent us many decisions stating Board members have the right to see resumes before they vote on appointments. Some decisions stated that not only do Board members have the right to see resumes, but they should see them as they take the oath to hire the best qualified.
The Superintendent and Board Attorney were clearly
wrong on the issue. They fought us from
looking at resumes. They delayed the vice-principal appointment. They were proven wrong. That never made it to the papers.
The above is just one more reason why Board members
should not be rubber-stamps and blindly approve recommendations. Often, those making the recommendations are
wrong.
The overwhelming majority of Lodi wants fair hiring practices. Most frown upon nepotism and patronage in
hiring.
Nancy Cardone does not want Board members looking at
resumes. She does not want jobs
advertised. She does not want more than
one person interviewed for any position. Why? Because,
that is how her son became principal.
That is how Donald Scorzetti became Deputy Chief. And how he will become Chief one day.
That is how all of Leto’s relatives expect to be hired
and promoted in our schools.
Reject the lies.
Reject the corruption. Reject the
machine!
