Hurricane Irene struck in 2011. Mike Nardino begged the public for donations
for the purpose of rebuilding. At the same time, the Lodi
mayor and council took very questionable actions when it began paying the club
$60,000 annually in Lodi tax dollars. They stated it was for a "lease" but couldn't explain the arrangement or justify the amount when questioned at public meetings. They were making a donation, not with their money but with Lodi tax dollars.
Shortly after the fundraising drive and
the transfer of tax dollars, Mike Nardino’s reported compensation jumped from
$107,608 to $122,520.
Not a bad salary for a nonprofit that was begging for donations.
