Link to special “Separation Agreement” for a former BOE member’s wife:
The Lodi Board of Education recently approved a
special “Separation Agreement” where it basically agreed to pay an employee for
a year not to work without giving reason.
This was done in complete secrecy.
The item was not listed on the BOE’s agenda and was voted on after a
long closed session where the public would not know that it was being discussed.
The board attorney redacted the employee’s name even
though other separation agreements submitted under the Open Public Records Act
have provided employee names.
The Giacobbe attorneys continue to rack up months of
bills pertaining to certain employees only to turn around and use public funds
on SECRET “separation agreements”. They continue
to hide public information from the public.
The
Giacobbe attorneys are blatantly using illegal language in agreements to create
new layers of secrecy. If something is
provided through an OPRA request, it is available all members of the public and
not just the requestor.
The Giacobbe attorneys continue to act in a
disgraceful manner. Shame on the BOE for
retaining them. Did the BOE members bother
to read the agreement before voting?
The
Lodi BOE should be ashamed to have approved the illegal language and for
hindering transparency. If they don’t
want the public to know about something, they shouldn’t be doing it.
