From the article:
“New Jersey’s top law enforcement official said Monday
his office is investigating whether generous corporate tax incentives
championed by former Gov. Chris Christie ran afoul of state law after a scathing
audit found widespread problems.
In a rare public statement acknowledging a state
inquiry, Attorney General Gurbir Grewal said the Economic Development
Authority’s failure to adequately track billions of dollars in tax breaks was
“deeply troubling” and suggested his office could sue to recoup money from
companies that failed to deliver on promises to create jobs.”
And,
“Grewal,
a former federal prosecutor who specialized in white collar crime, said in his
statement he is “very concerned whenever I see a state agency distributing so
much money, with so little oversight, over such a long period of time.”
