“Giattino told council members she stumbled upon
Melli-Huber’s continued presence on the city payroll when she was reviewing pay
documents and noticed the total figure for the mayor’s office had risen in
recent weeks. She said the Bhalla administration told her initially the change
was due to “a differential in pay.”
“Which is not true,” she said.
When presented with the city payroll for approval on
Wednesday, Giattino said she wanted to amend it to delete Melli-Huber’s pay,
roughly $2,000. She then whipped out a calculator to determine how much the
difference was.
"Because I can’t trust anyone else to,” she said.”
