The truth about the letter in your tax bill sent by the Lodi Mayor and Council...

This repost from July 8, 2018 is for Vin Martin.  Your administration’s total general appropriations for Calendar Year 2018 was $685,057.05 more than 2017.  That is a 2.6% increase.

Vin, if you didn’t bury Lodi in debt, you would have delivered big tax increases.  Lodi will be paying for your tax increase and a lot more in interest in NON ELECTION years.  How convenient for you and inconvenient for the Lodi taxpayers.  You can't talk 0% tax increases when you added millions in debt and increased spending beyond 2.5%.

Post from July 8, 2018:

In their letter paid for with Lodi tax dollars, this administration writes the following:

The Mayor and Council has worked diligently to provide you with local services, while still meeting our pledge of an efficient and fiscally run government.

Like the City of Paterson, Lodi has been borrowing millions for basic, anticipated municipal expenses.  What would be the annual tax increases if this Mayor and Council followed "pay as you go" instead of adding millions in debt?

The Mayor and Council are like a household whose credit card debt is the size of their annual income.

This administration’s total general appropriations for Calendar Year 2018 are $685,057.05 more than 2017.  That is a 2.6% increase.

The letter mentions “attrition”.  There are more full time employees on the Lodi payroll today than there were one year ago.  Same goes for part-time and seasonal.

Lodi continues to pay the largest retirement payouts for retiring Chiefs.

Lodi began paying Scorzetti a salary over $200,000 months before he was made Chief.

Lodi continues to pay Alan Spiniello over $210,000 for very limited, part-time, legal work.

Lodi continues to overpay hundreds of thousands of dollars in NO BID contracts awarded to its campaign contributors.

Lodi ignores the State’s recommended “Best Practices” and blatantly lies on its questionnaire each year.

Notice how the letter doesn't mention the school tax increase.  The Mayor and Council are aware of the percentage increase and its impact on the average Lodi homeowner.  The Mayor and Council purposely omitted that information.  The Mayor and Council contributed to that increase.  They fund the campaigns of the school Board members raising taxes.  They encourage the tax increases.  Members of the Mayor and Council are employed by the Lodi BOE and have a long list of relatives employed by the BOE.

There is nothing efficient or fiscally sound from this Mayor and Council.
