3 hour work session tonight…

Some issues I raised:

-Lodi is overpaying for architectural services by using a percentage of total project costs.  Lodi already paid SSP $272,493 for the suspended Lincoln School project.  Lodi should look at fixed costs and hourly rates.

-Lodi should post all job openings on the district website.  Other districts use njire, njschooljobs, the Record, and Star Ledger.  A small number of Lodi positions are listed on edjobspot which is not a good choice (it's hardly used by anyone).

-Many smart and talented Lodi residents are not given an opportunity for teaching jobs.

-Who drew up the Superintendent merit bonus goals?  They should deal more with measurable achievements (ex. improving SAT scores) than on meetings during the work day and measuring energy levels.

-Some Board members no longer want a referendum vote (Lincoln School) and acknowledge it will be defeated.  They now pretend that they are interested in making improvements to the building rather than demolition.  I argued that the vote should take place in November.  It is essential to get the public’s vote on record in case the Board tries to knock the building down a year from now.
