The termination clause is not the only questionable
clause in the agreement. This should be
challenged: “Evans could not cash in any
unused sick days at his retirement, but Shafer is allowed to get $56,175 for 90 unused sick days when
she retires.” I would bet that Shafer, like Frank Quatrone, cannot produce an agreement between her and the BOE as of June 8, 2007 showing that she was owed $56,175 for sick days at retirement. I would bet that number was not memorialized in her prior contract. I would bet that number was just recently negotiated. That number should not be greater than $15,000.
As always, the Board members avoid answering for their
actions by passing the blame on the State DOE.
The State DOE in turn avoids answering questions by stating the contract
is locally negotiated. Neither is complying with state statutes and
regulations.
