Politics in our schools: Exhibit A.

“Capizzi First” has spent well over $10,000 on their campaign so far.  They are required by law to file certain forms, show where their money came from, and how it is spent.  But “Capizzi First” thinks they are above the law.  Only one form (C-1) is appearing for them.  And it just went up a few days before the election.

Their only form shows one contribution.  Where did it come from?  It came from the mayor and council’s campaign fund (“United for Lodi”).  This clearly shows machine politics at its worst!

Why are the mayor & council meddling in a local school board election?

Members of the council are employed by the BOE.  Are they trying to buy influence from those that are supposed to be their bosses?

Members of the council have children on the BOE.  Why is there so much power in the hands of so few?

The mayor & council are supposed to be Miller’s boss and Scorzetti’s boss.  How bad does it look that they just promoted the two people whose campaign they are funding?  How bad will it look when they promote their hand-picked puppets again in the near future?

People running for the school board should be independent and nonpartisan. It should be about putting the children first, not politicians.

What you see here from “Capizzi First” and “United for Lodi” is something you see in the most corrupt towns of Hudson County.

Machine politics hurts school employees.  Machine politics hurts taxpayers.  Machine politics hurts the children.

Reject the machine on Tuesday.  Reject their dirty money.  Reject their lust for power.  Reject their mindless puppetry.
