Our by-laws state that a Board member can be removed if they miss three consecutive meetings. In 2016, Trustee Carafa went four whole months without attending any meetings. He missed 7 out of 16 meetings. He missed numerous meetings in 2017. He missed Monday’s meeting. The rest of us had to sit there until 1 in the morning.
I made the motion to remove Carafa tonight. It wasn’t personal. It was policy. I respect and like most of his relatives that work in
our schools.
Before we voted, I pointed out that Mike Nardino
should recuse himself because he abstained on issues with Carafa in the past
being he is a cousin. He presented his
conflict himself. I pointed out that
Dominic Miller should recuse himself because Emil Carafa is technically his
boss and promoted him last year. Emil
Carafa actually passed an ordinance changing the table of organization just so
Miller can be promoted.
Tonight four Board members ignored our by-laws,
disregarded attendance, and voted to keep Carafa.
Carafa voted to keep himself- VERY UNETHICAL.
Nardino voted to keep his cousin- VERY UNETHICAL.
Miller voted to keep his boss’ son- VERY UNETHICAL.
Carbonetti voted to keep Carafa. Emil Carafa is the principal of Washington
school. Who works there?
