At tonight’s BOE work session, Mayor Carafa said a
citizen asked him why he was for the building.
He claimed the building wasn’t his concern.
Then he passionately expressed why the last Board was
right to move forward with its plans to demolish and replace. He had the nerve to tell the Board Trustees
that they need to make the case to the public that it will cost $4M to repair
the building if it’s not replaced.
Everyone should feel very uncomfortable with the Mayor telling the BOE what to do. (The Mayor also tried to buy the last BOE election for his candidates).
And that $4M number to repair is complete BS. Many experts in the field have read the
engineer’s report and completely dispute those numbers.
Columbus School just turned 100. Does Mayor Carafa want to demolish that
building too? That would be “visionary”,
wouldn’t it?
Mayor Carafa cannot have it both ways. He wants to promote the building and then
claim it’s not his business when residents question why he supports it.
Mayor Carafa also tried to silence me when I attempted to respond to the nonsense coming from him and Vinny Martin.
They can’t win an argument so they try to shut down
the opposing opinion. I guess they still
can’t get over that their corrupt political machine doesn’t have a monopoly
anymore.
As an elected official, I am looking out for the
taxpayers, especially with the ridiculous $7.5M administration building. It’s unfortunate that Mayor Carafa is not
doing the same.
