Highlighted
are the parts to question #1 from tonight’s meeting:
Was something
wrong with the contract that you approved last month for Deputy Chief Donald
Scorzetti being you rescinded it and gave him a new one?
Alan Spiniello said they had to include a $7,000
difference between him and the chief and one year was listed wrong.
With the
exception of Councilman DiChiara, the rest of you brought back the Deputy Chief
position for Donald Scorzetti and got him an expensive Tahoe which includes
personal use. Then you funded his
political campaign with at least $3,641.
Then you awarded him a contract with a salary approaching $200,000.
Don’t your
actions show that your promotions and contracts are influenced by politics?
Mayor Carafa said he wasn’t even going to comment.
Vinny Martin said “No”!
Emil Carafa said the Deputy Chief position was never
eliminated and they didn’t bring anything back. I pointed out that they ran on
it and bragged about saving money. They
used it in fliers and in the Community News.
Patty Licata used the word “eliminated”.
Aren’t you
inviting lawsuits by providing evidence that your Board candidates receive
special treatment?
Nobody had any response. I pointed out that it looks back when
promotions go to a councilwoman’s son and people whose political campaigns are
funded by the mayor and council.
Emil Carafa repeated the following over and over
again:
And I kept pointing out that I was using their words,
fliers, and newspaper articles.
