Paterson in the Record:
Lodi in the Record:
Paterson’s Chief was employed in the system for 43
years, Lodi’s Chief only 27 years.
Paterson’s Chief had a final salary of $166,700, Lodi's was $185,572.
Paterson’s Chief had a larger department, a more
dangerous city, and more years in the system.
His retirement package was a lot less than Lodi’s. He walked away with less than what the
Paterson council initially approved. He
walked away with a lot less than what he and his lawyer fought for.
When Chief Caruso retired from Lodi, his package was a
lot more than anyone imagined. His
payout included more than his contract stated.
Chief Caruso could have walked away with anything he
liked and nothing would ever have been challenged. He was in the driver’s seat. He was in a BOE seat.
Noticeably
missing from all the newspaper articles on Chief Caruso’s payout was the fact
that Chief Caruso was on the Lodi Board of Education at the time of his
retirement. The majority of the Lodi
Mayor and Council were employed by the Lodi BOE while they were approving his
$342,000 payout.
Scorzetti and Miller took notes from this. They want to follow their leader.
If elected to the BOE, Scorzetti secures the Police Chief
position for himself (as soon as it opens).
He is already on pace for a larger payout than Caruso, but a Board seat
will deliver him even more perks and more excesses.
Dominic Miller already has a record on the Board. He was promoted to sergeant just months after
joining the Board. He is a reliable
Capizzi “YES” man. He was on the sub-committee
ultimately responsible for Capizzi’s wasteful $7.5 million administration
building. He was driving around with
Capizzi while the deals on the building were being made.
