What would you think of the BOE if they tried to rush
a vote on the $7.5 million administration building 4 days before Christmas?
What would you think if they rushed the vote before the Reorganization
on January 4th?
What would you think if they purposely exclude newly
elected trustees from voting?
Wouldn’t that only worsen public trust?
Every day I am asked the same question over and over: who’s getting a kickback?
That is the natural response when millions are spent
without public input and behind the public’s back.
The Lodi politicians had an entire year to sell the
project to the public.
They tried to sell it at a few crowded Board
meetings. Residents left angrier and
more opposed.
They tried to sell it with Joe Licata’s dopey letter
to the editor over the summer. It only
enraged the public more.
Joe Capizzi tried to sell it while driving around Lodi
all year. It came from a very experienced
salesman. Nobody bought it.
Nobody bought it because it’s bad for everyone. It takes money away from our schools. It hurts the taxpayers. It makes no sense.
If Capizzi places the vote on this Wednesday’s agenda,
it will further set the community against the Board. More
money will be wasted.
The current Board members should reject any effort to
rush through a vote before newly elected members are sworn in.
No vote should be taken until the matter is placed on
the ballot as a nonbinding referendum.
No vote should take place until a real subcommittee
explores all options.
The Board has shown us over the last year that there
is no urgency.
It’s better to slow down and get things right.
