If you read the initial engineer's report, the estimate to repair the damaged bricks was $10,000. The estimate for "Roof Repairs" (cracked rafters) was $222,396.
If you add those two, it is still less than what the Board paid for architectural plans ($272,493) to demolish and replace.
As for "high density storage needs", go find a basement in one of the schools and store there.
