Who were they at the time of the “Done Deal”?
Marc Schrieks: Lodi Councilman, Coniglio Chief of Staff, Ferriero Vice Chairman.
Joseph Ferriero: Chairman of the Bergen County Democratic Organization, Partner at Scarinci Hollenbeck Law Firm.
Former employees of Schrieks’ administration stated that Ferriero’s law firm represented the business on Main Street that received the garbage expansion. When asked at a council meeting if this was true, Schrieks responded: “maybe”.
Joseph Coniglio: State Senator representing Lodi. His wife Valerie was the “Clerk” for the Bergen County Board of Freeholders (hired by Ganz).
David Ganz: Freeholder that voted for the expansion.
Ganz showed rude and obnoxious behavior towards residents of Lodi that spoke out against the garbage expansion.
Ganz recalled in a Record article this past August that someone from Lodi remembered what he did:
“Ganz recalled an incident a few years ago when he and his then-running mate, the Rev. Vernon Walton, were going door-to-door in Garfield and Lodi.
Before Ganz could finish introducing himself, the man who answered the door said “I know who you are...and I wouldn’t vote for you if you were the last man on earth.”
When he asked why, the man replied that it was because of the Ganz’s vote to locate a waste transfer station about two blocks away.
“O.K.,” Ganz replied, thinking quickly. “Well then, can I introduce you to Vernon Walton. He didn’t vote for the transfer station.””

Where are they now?
Marc Schrieks: Mayor of Lodi, Aide to Freeholder Joan Voss (Voss is Ganz’s running mate up for reelection next month and use to be Coniglio's running mate).
Joseph Ferriero: Trial set to begin in February.

Joseph Coniglio: served time in prison for what he and Schrieks did in his Senate office.
David Ganz: referenced as “Freeholder #1” in Ferriero’s indictment. Ganz is up for re-election next month.
At the time of the tonnage increase, many people called for an investigation into how Marc Schrieks would know the Freeholder Board's vote prior to any hearings taking place, DEP reports being released, or even listing the matter as an agenda item.
Ferriero’s Freeholders (Ganz included) approved the tonnage increase after stating that Lodi’s elected officials supported it. Marc Schrieks was present when that statement was made and he sat silent.
Years later, and knowing what everyone knows now about these four individuals, it is a travesty that this “Done Deal” was never investigated.
