There is no reason to keep
Lodi's municipal elections in May. Since
2010, the Lodi council has been given the option to move its Municipal
elections to November. The move would
save a lot of money and lead to a larger voter turnout. Municipal elections would still be
non-partisan.
Very few towns in New Jersey have Lodi’s form of government. Garfield and Clifton do. Clifton moved its municipal elections to November a few years back. Garfield is in the process.
Lodi is left behind. The mayor and council should explain why.
